Laser Lipo Evolution MD Laser Spot Removal What is Laser Lipo?

Laser liposuction is a variation of traditional liposuction that uses low-wave laser energy to liquify fat before it’s removed through a thin tube called a cannula. This technique makes the fat easier to remove resulting in a less aggressive procedure, which may lead to faster recovery times. In areas with thin layers of fat like the face and the neck, the cannula might not be used at all. In this case, the liquified fat is absorbed and naturally eliminated by the body. The procedure is not intended to significantly reduce weight, but to address fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. Laser liposuction differs from traditional liposuction in two main ways. First, the laser energy is used to “melt” the fat. This turns the fat into liquid and makes it easier to aspirate from the surrounding tissue, as well as ensuring a smooth even result. This is a distinct benefit in areas where the surrounding tissue is firm, like the “love handles” or “back fat” in the upper torso.

Am I a good Candidate?

Laser liposuction candidacy has more to do with what your goals are, rather than what your body type. In terms of body type, you certainly would qualify for laser liposuction and it could help tremendously. However, if you are simply looking for an easy way to lose weight without exercise or dieting, then liposuction may not be for you. Even once you undergo liposuction and watch the weight melt away, you still have to exercise and eat properly to maintain your results. If you don’t, you will gain the weight back again – though it may not be in the same places as before.

After Lipo Will I Be Able to Continue to Lose Fat from the Treated Areas, the Stomach and Back?

It is perfectly fine to continue to lose weight from the areas that you have had liposuction in. Not all of the fat cells are gone with liposuction. Although, there are less fat cells in the areas of liposuction when compared to other areas that have not been suctioned. If a person gains weight, the remaining fat cells get larger. If a person loses weight, the remaining fat cells will get smaller. Therefore, losing 5-10 pounds will maximize your results.

What to expect after Laser Lipo

Most people look really good the day after Laser Lipo because the swelling has just started and it very minimal at this point. In the next couple of days, the swelling increases and reaches its peak between 1-2 weeks before it starts to go down. By one month, about 80% of the swelling has resolved, but there can still be areas of lumpy firmness. By 3 months all the swelling has resolved and the skin has started tightening and most people look really close to the final end result. However, it can take up to 6-12 months for the skin to continue improving and the contour to smooth out.
